Dear Resident/Family Member,

We have completed our third round of vaccinations and are pleased to let you know that we were able to vaccinate 96% of our long-term residents and 88% of our employees.  This is an incredible accomplishment for us.

At this time, the State of Illinois has only scheduled 3 clinics for long-term care facilities, so there are no additional clinics scheduled.  Rxperts, the pharmacy that provides services to our facility, has applied to become a provider of vaccines in the future phases.  We hope this will allow us to continue to vaccinate new residents, new employees or people who did not get vaccinated in the previous clinics for a variety of reasons.

We are also pleased to inform you that Wauconda Care has been approved by the State of Illinois

as an infusion site for the administration of monoclonal antibodies to its patients who meet the criteria.  The FDA has issued emergency use authorization for bamlanivimab for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 for adults testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 viral testing and who are at high risk for progressing to severe COVID-19 and/or hospitalization.  The following link will explain this treatment.  http://pi.lilly.com/eua/bamlanivimab-eua-factsheet-patient.pdf

If a resident tests positive for COVID-19, he/she will be evaluated by the medical team to determine if he/she is a candidate for the monoclonal antibody infusion.  If so, the resident and family member will receive education and consent will have to be given before administration can be done.

We are looking forward to warm weather so that outdoor visits can be scheduled.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 847-526-5551.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Hahn
