Badge for Best Rankings on US News and World Report

December 30, 2016, Wauconda, Illinois – Wauconda Care has been named one of the Best Nursing Homes in the U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Homes Rankings for 2016. The report uses data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to rank nursing homes on factors including health inspections, nurse staffing and quality of medical care, with an emphasis on long-term performance consistency this year.  Wauconda Care earned the highest rating of 5 Stars in its overall rating.

“This national honor is a testament to our dedicated staff and our outstanding care,” said CEO Laura Zung. “Our team works hard to meet everyone’s needs and genuinely cares about helping each and every patient rehabilitate in our thoughtfully designed community setting.  Our goal is to help our patients recover and get back home as quickly as possible.”

U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide to come up with the slightly more than 2,000 included on the list of Best Nursing Homes. The 2016 rankings included tougher requirements, resulting in a 41 percent decrease in the number of facilities that made the list.   Wauconda Care is one of only 5 facilities in the Northern Chicago suburban area which made the list.

Millions of Americans will spend at least some time recovering in a nursing home this year, noted Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News. “Finding a nursing home that meets an individual’s specific needs can be challenging for families,” Kelly said in a release. “Our nursing home ratings are designed to help potential residents and their loved ones navigate this difficult process.”
